Kentucky Qualification System
Kentucky Emergency Management launched the Kentucky Qualification System (KQS). It is modeled after the National Qualification System that was implemented in 2023 and sets a statewide standard for baseline qualifications that meet national standards.
The KQS sets credentialing criteria for various Emergency Operation Center and Incident Management Team positions. Trainings, coursework, and incident management experience is reviewed by a Qualification Review Board of Emergency Management professionals and peers before issuing qualifications.
