Disaster Recovery and Mitigation
Before and after disasters, KYEM will make sure that you and your community have access to the full range of federal and state programs that are for protection and recovery from damaging events. We’ll coordinate with our local and federal partners to make sure that those resources are readily accessible.
Community Recovery
As a state or local government, or nonprofit entity, you have access to grant funding that will help you to rebuild.
Public Assistance
Our team at KYEM will connect you with FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, your tool for repairing damaged infrastructure.
Grant Management
KYEM is a pass-through entity for funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). We’ll help you through every step of the grant application process and protect you as the grantee from the federal red tape. We monitor grantees at all stages of the financial award, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures, as well as helping you get the most out of your grant funding.
If you have questions about what this process looks like, you can reach us at pa.help@ky-em.org.
Hazard Mitigation
Disaster can strike without warning, but disaster mitigation is your first line of defense. Set your community up for recovery success by building hazard mitigation plans and taking on local mitigation projects.
Not sure how to get started? KYEM will work with your local leaders to develop mitigation plans, secure grant funding and turn your community’s goals into reality.
Individual and Household Recovery
KYEM partners with local and federal teams to connect disaster survivors with the resources needed to rebuild. Whether that’s financial aid to supplement your insurance coverage, temporary housing assistance while your primary residence gets fixed, or repairs to your personal property, you won’t be walking the road to recovery alone.
Individual Assistance
KYEM is committed to helping individuals and families recover after a federally declared disaster. Through FEMA’s Individual Assistance Program (IA), survivors may be eligible for support that helps meet basic needs and jumpstart recovery when insurance and other resources fall short.
Volunteers Make an Impact
KYEM works with volunteer community organizations to coordinate local recovery efforts and get families the support they need. But what our team really needs, is you. From boots-on-the-ground efforts to the donation of supplies, you can help Kentucky’s communities rebuild stronger.
Recovery Planning
Preparation is the key to a successful recovery process and local leaders spearhead that effort. From creating emergency plans and implementing mitigation projects, to outlining recovery procedures, a well-prepared community is able to recover faster.
