Course Description
This 5-day course serves as a basic introduction to the activities and processes of a Type 3 IMT. The overall goal of USFA's Incident Management Team (IMT) program is to develop state, regional, and tribal IMTs to function under the National Incident Management System (NIMS) during a large and/or complex incident or a major event. This course is designed for those who are assigned to function in a Type 3 IMT during a large/complex incident, typically extending into multiple operational periods. The Type 3 IMT can either support an existing ICS structure, or can assume command of an incident if requested to do so. The Type 3 IMT can ease the transition to a National IMT for large scale, long duration, or complex incidents. This course, also known as the All-Hazard IMT program, helps students gain understanding of IMT processes and functions. In addition, students increase their proficiency in the roles and responsibilities of IMT members during large or complex incidents. The O305 Incident Management Team course focuses on the importance of developing and operating as a functional Type 3 IMT.
Student Criteria
This course is open to all Emergency Management, Fire, Emergency Medical, Fire, and Law Enforcement personnel or other organization having responsibility for incident management. Prerequisites: ICS-300. Copies of the course completion certificates must be provided to the POC listed below prior to the class. **Please see special notes under registration.
Special Notes
A MINIMUM # of twenty (20) advance student registrations is REQUIRED and must be received by June 5, 2026. A MAXIMUM Thirty (30) will be accepted. You are considered accepted as a student in this class upon receipt of your application. Letters of acceptance may not be sent. You are considered accepted as a student in this class upon receipt of your application. Meals, lodging, and travel expense will NOT be reimbursed by KYEM. **On the first day of class you will be requested to fill out a registration form for the USFA, who administers the course. All materials will be in digital format and emailed prior to the start of the course.
