Swift Water Rescue Awareness & Bank Based Rope Operations

Course Description

This 8 hour awareness course satisfies NFPA and all other nationally recognized training and behavior standards at the Awareness Level. This class provides the required information First Responders need to identify and safely operate at the awareness level at incidents involving swift water and or floods.

 

 

Student Criteria

This course is open to all Emergency Management, Rescue, Fire, Emergency Medical, and Law Enforcement. . This class is particularly helpful to organizations and/or individuals who are planning to acquire training at the swift water rescue operations and/or technician level.

 

 

Special Notes

A minimum of 15 registrations are required to conduct this class. There is a maximum of 25 students. Registration must be completed by April 4, 2026.  Meals, lodging, and travel expenses are the responsibility of the student and will NOT be reimbursed by KYEM. There are no prerequisites. Class will involve throw bags, PFD’s, Ropes, and other PPE demonstrations.
