Course Description
This course will prepare emergency responders to operate as certified Hazardous Materials Technicians capable of managing hazardous materials and WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) incidents. This includes offensive operations, advanced containment, and mitigation strategies within the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Aligned with NFPA 470 Chapter 11
Student Criteria:
This course is open to Firefighters, EMS, Law Enforcement, and other emergency responders having responsibility for responding to a hazardous materials incident. Prerequisites Required – (Hazmat Awareness, and Hazmat Operations)
**Copies of these course completion certificates must be provided before class to the POC listed below. **
Special Notes:
Advance student registration is REQUIRED and must be received by March 11, 2027, to participate in this course. MAXIMUM number of students seats is 30. Meals Lodging, and travel arrangements/expenses are the responsibility of the student and will not be reimbursed by KYEM unless otherwise noted.
