Course Description

BatteryIQ EV Response introduces students to the risk / hazards surrounding Li-ION battery use, specifically related to Electrical Vehicles. This 8-hour training discusses the unique challenges posed by electric vehicles, such as difficulty controlling / extinguishing the fire, and thermal runaway, as well as the challenges faced during extrication, such as laminated safety glass, securing the vehicle from movement, and automatic internal locks. Not only does this training provide information and awareness, but gives students the tactics needed to effectively and efficiently mitigate EV incidents. Training concludes with hands-on training using the most state of the art equipment in EV response.

 

Student Criteria:

This course is open to all Emergency Management, Rescue, Environmental Response, Public Health, Fire, Emergency Medical, Law Enforcement personnel or any organization having responsibility for responding to a hazardous materials incident. HazMat Awareness and Operations class would be beneficial to the student.

 

Special Notes:

Advance student registration is REQUIRED and must be received by May 5, 2025 to participate in this course. MAXIMUM number of students seats are 30. Meals Lodging, and travel arrangements/expenses are the responsibility of the student and will not be reimbursed by KYEM unless otherwise noted.
