Course Description
DeconIQ addresses the current issues with Decon by leveraging scientific principles, including chemical and physical properties, as well as empirical data from various military, academic, and government sources. This system empowers trained decontamination technicians to formulate actionable decontamination plans in as little 1-2 minutes. At its core area series of charts enabling users to quickly identify appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), relevant decontamination agents, dwell times, and the selection of meters for validation and confirmation of decontamination efforts. DeconIQ is the culmination of extensive research, product familiarization, discussions with manufactures of decontamination agents and meters, and decades of hands-on field experience.
Student Criteria:
This course is open to all Emergency Management, Rescue, Environmental Response, Public Health, Fire, Emergency Medical, Law Enforcement personnel or any organization having responsibility for responding to a hazardous materials incident.
Special Notes:
Advance student registration is REQUIRED and must be received by November 5th, 2026, to participate in this course. MAXIMUM number of students seats is 30. Meals Lodging, and travel arrangements/expenses are the responsibility of the student and will not be reimbursed by KYEM unless otherwise noted.
