Course Description

The G‑235 Emergency Planning course is a nationally recognized 16‑hour program designed to equip emergency management and public safety personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop effective, comprehensive Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs). The course follows FEMA’s Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG 101) and the all‑hazards planning process, integrating NIMS principles and hazard analysis methodologies. Participants will learn how to evaluate hazards using THIRA, coordinate multi‑agency planning efforts, and implement planning models to improve both deliberate and crisis action planning.

Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop capable of reading a USB flash drive and a copy of their jurisdiction’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). Course materials will be provided electronically.

Student Criteria

This course is open to all Emergency Management, Rescue, Fire, Emergency Medical, and Law

Enforcement personnel or other organization having responsibility for incident management.  Pre-requisites include IS-235.c and IS-800.  Copies of these completion certificates must be provided before the class to the POC listed below.

Special Notes

A MINIMUM of fifteen (15) advance student registrations is REQUIRED and must be received by April 12, 2026. A MAXIMUM of twenty-five (25) will be accepted. You are considered accepted as a student in this class upon receipt of your application. Letters of acceptance will not be sent. Meals, lodging, and travel expenses are the responsibility of the student and will NOT be reimbursed by KYEM. The materials in this course will be delivered in digital format. A copy of the manual will be emailed to you prior to the start of the class.
