FEMA Disaster KY-DR 1757
May 19, 2008 President Bush declared a major disaster existed in 13 Kentucky counties due to damages from severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, mudslides and landslides that occured on April 3-4, 2008.
Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation will be provided. The assistance was approved following a review of damage data gathered by federal and state disaster recovery officials. The counties designated to receive this assistance are Anderson, Crittenden, Fleming, Fulton, Hancock, Hopkins, Lewis, Livingston, McLean, Nicholas, Ohio, Spencer and Woodford.
"I appreciate FEMA’s positive response to our request for federal assistance. The damage from last month’s severe weather poses a financial burden for our local governments and this federal assistance will greatly help recoup financial costs associated with responding to and recovering from this disaster,” said Gov. Beshear. “Public Assistance for these hard-hit counties will go a long way in bringing relief. I also want to thank all the folks at Kentucky Division of Emergency Management and local responders who answer the call any time emergencies happen and assistance is needed.”
